Lincolnshire Police have launched an investigation after a Roman wall and gateway near City Hall sustained "considerable damage" just after midnight on Sunday.

Authorities responded to reports from the Beaumont Fee car park area and believe vandals struck the designated ancient monument late at night.

Councillor Joshua Wells voiced his dismay at the act, highlighting the wall's integral role in the city's history and reassuring residents that CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the perpetrator. Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward and help preserve Lincoln's heritage.
